Originating from Sensi Seeds, Purple Bud is a descendant of Afghani indicas and it is named for its bright hues of lavender crystal trichomes. In terms of purple strain, Purple Bud stands out from the crowd because it has 75% Indica genetics. It has dark purple buds that are lumpy, dense, and tight with bright orange hairs. It is easy to grow indoors and the rich pine-sandalwood aroma with sweet undertones makes it taste very good. Though its leaves often change color, it is common to see a purple bud finish its growth with green leaves which later highlight its deep violet heads. It is important to note that purple bud strains can vary widely in terms of the degree of the purple hue.

Many years ago, the only purple strains you could find were only purple due to environmental conditions. Plants grown in outdoor environment that were subject to prolonged periods of cold temperatures would begin to develop a purple color. Nowadays, purple cannabis strains can be grown in a controlled environment (indoor or outdoor) without stressing the plants out.

There are many Purple strains available but they have different functions. Purple Bud should be considered not just for its leaves and slight purple hues, but for its purple buds. Some buds may be deep purple with almost no green color at all, while others might have no purple at all. Buds of the mature plant are solid, thick, and spiky with great extension, covering a majority of branches and stem by harvest time.

Purple Bud can be cultivated by experts and novice growers alike. Thick buds and heavy yields can be achieved indoors and outdoors. Her flowering time is about 50-65 days, and the purple floral clusters are frosted with sparkling resin glands. When crossing the Afghani indicas with a Jamaican sativa, the result is a California Purple Kush and a Dutch Hindu Kush. The aromatic smell is a combination of pine and dank spicy kush with an herbal floral grape effect that is released as the buds are broken apart and burned.

Cannabis is a powerful healing plant that can aid in a wide range of health conditions, from stress to cancer. Since they tend to be Indica dominant, Purple Bud’s effects generally relax the whole-body and are perfect for kicking back at the end of a long and stressful day. It has a classic purple family high that generally falls heavy on both mind and body, enabling the user to feel sleepy and sedated after a few delicious puffs, as with the majority of Indica strains. If purple cannabis is found to offer antioxidant rich anthocyanins, it will soon become a major asset in medicinal cannabis strains.
